Well it seems as their is a potential shitstorm about to envelope the recent Loacl Government elections in QLD. It seems that many of the voters were instructed to vote only with a "1" next to the candidate of their choice. now I know we have optional preferential voting when it comes to state elections, but I didn't know it was also applicable to council elections.

Anyway, it's gonna be a nasty state of affairs as it seems electoral booth officialls across the whole of Rockhampton advised electors just to vote with a "1" only, failing to point out that if they chose, they may also indicate their preferences with a 2, 3 , 4 etc.

Will be inteersting to see if this is followed up - or whether the "beige brigade's" argument of "it's too expensive to have another election" holds sway.

Well you dumb fucks - if it's too expensive to have another election, let's just do away with them fullstop. Electoral staff guiding voters on how they should vote is just an absolute disgrace. What would BIG A.D, make of this?

Cannot see that there is any other option but to have a another election.
Surely that one would have to be declared invalid.

I'm sure it will all be swept away, and as I have said, there are more than enough "democratic voters" out there who will agree that it ill be too expensive to have another election.

But on a serious note, this is a major cock up. There is nothing for it but the election to be declared invalid and another to be held.

And I'm not sure that this has ever happened before.
